Shortlist announced for Newspaper of the Year for 2016

The shortlist has been announced for the National Press Awards' Newspaper of the Year for 2016.

Chosen yesterday by a respected panel of judges with extensive experience of the newspaper industry, the six shortlisted entries are Daily Mail, the i, The Daily Telegraph, The Mail on Sunday, The Sunday Times and The Times. 

The coveted Newspaper of the Year Award will be handed out alongside prizes in 29 other categories at a glittering evening ceremony on 14 March 2017 at the London Hilton on Park Lane.  A shortlist for the general categories was released last week and can be viewed here. 

The event, a highlight of the media industry calendar, is organised by the Society of Editors and brings together more than 500 senior media executives and journalists.
